I am a Christian and as a Christian I have pointed out to others about
thanking the Lord for blessings that they have received even when they
themselves never even realized that they had been blessed. Take for
example what happened this past Monday. I was at my computer when I
heard a loud sound. I looked out my window but didn't see anything but
then I heard it again and then again. I noticed that some cars were
coming to a stop and the sound seemed to be moving right to left past my
house. So I ran to the front door ( well, not so much as ran but I did
waddle pretty fast) in time to see a car in the field next door and
heard someone say call 911. A young man had went off the road and after
making a glancing blow on a pole across from our house, he came back across
the road to hit a guard rail another glancing blow. The car then went
through our front yard taking out our mailbox before crashing through
our fence and winding up in the field next door. The driver seemed to be ok
and he sat there for a minute. When he realized that he just had an
accident he put the car into gear and left the scene as fast as he
could.

Later that day his dad came down to reimburse us for the mail box. I
told the man that I went to church and that he needed to tell his son to
come out this Sunday because he needed to thank the Lord for his
blessings. He could have hit that pole head on, he could have hit the
guard rail head on, he could have hit another car when he went left of
center and he could have ran over my dad who was just a few minutes
earlier cutting grass in the front yard. These were blessing that he
never saw. All he could see was the traffic ticket and car damage when
it very well could have been much worse.
Oh, how blind we are.................

Yesterday I received some good news. I received a letter from the
government telling me that since I was disabled and drawing social
security, I would be eligible for a $250 stimulus check. Not bad if I do
say so myself. Who couldn't use an extra $250 in their pay? Today,
however, I received a letter from the government telling me that by
federal law, my stimulus check must go to pay any state or federal debt
that I may owe. So they were sending my money to the V.A. To pay for my
medications. My first thought was "don't that just bite!" The government
giveth and the government taketh away. That's just my type of luck.

The thing is, just last week I had received a letter from the Social
Security admin. Telling me that they had been contacted by the V.A about
my owing them $236 and they would have to take it out of my check in
August if I didn't take care of it sooner. Well, $236 out of a $990
check doesn't leave very much so I was a little down. Only God, in His
great mercy, took care of it for me. I could not see the blessing.
At least not at first, all I could see was a windfall coming my way one day and being taken away the next. It took several hours before it finally dawned on me what God did for me. He provided the funds that I needed to pay a debt that was coming due the very next month. A windfall for a shortfall.
Oh, how blind we are................

We don't always see our blessing do we? I guess it depends on how clear
our eyes are or maybe it all depends on how we count them.

So the question is; how do you count your blessings?
